In short
To end an arrangement, give written notice that matches what you agreed, and at least reasonable notice if nothing was agreed. Agree a date for keys and belongings, and return the deposit with any deductions explained. Nobody should be threatened, locked out or have their belongings removed. If you feel unsafe, call 112 or 999.
How do I give notice?
On Sa Bhaile, choose “End this arrangement”, pick a reason and the date notice takes effect. Both of you get the notice in writing with a timestamp.
What happens before the last day?
- Agree a time to hand back the keys.
- Check the room together, ideally with photos.
- Agree when the deposit comes back and explain any deductions.
- Swap forwarding details for post if you want to.
What if we don’t agree?
Talk first. Threshold and Citizens Information can explain the options, and deposit disputes can go to the Small Claims Procedure. Sa Bhaile’s team can also look at a concern you raise.
What is never okay?
Changing locks, removing someone’s belongings, threats or force. If a lodger reports pressure like this, our team reviews it as a priority.
