What does ‘Verified ID’ mean on Sa Bhaile?

In short

A Verified ID badge means the person has confirmed their identity with our identity checking provider. Hosts also confirm their address before a listing goes live. Sa Bhaile keeps the result of the check, not copies of your documents. A badge is a helpful sign, but it is not a guarantee, so always view in person and trust your instincts.

What are the badge levels?

  • Basic: email and phone confirmed.
  • Verified ID: identity confirmed with our provider.
  • Verified with references: identity confirmed and references checked.

What do hosts have to do?

Hosts confirm their identity and address before a listing can be published, and a person reviews each new host’s first listing.

What happens to my documents?

Your documents go to the identity provider. Sa Bhaile stores only the result and a reference number, never copies of your ID.

Is Verified ID the same as a Garda check?

No. Garda checks in Ireland are carried out through the National Vetting Bureau for registered organisations, not for private individuals or apps. Sa Bhaile does not offer or carry out Garda checks.

Common questions

Does Verified ID mean someone is safe?
It means their identity was confirmed. It doesn’t replace meeting in person and using your own judgement.
Do you keep a copy of my passport?
No. We keep only the result of the check and a reference.
Can I get a Garda check through Sa Bhaile?
No. These are only available through registered organisations under the National Vetting Bureau Acts.
